The Shire of Woodanilling is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to the position of Executive Manager Infrastructure.
Woodanilling is a vibrant agricultural community located in the northernmost part of Western Australia’s Great Southern region, approximately 15 minutes from Katanning. The town offers a relaxed rural lifestyle with essential services, heritage character and strong community connections.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the Shire’s Works Department and the delivery of road construction and maintenance programs. The role provides leadership to outside staff and has a strong focus on Work Health and Safety, asset management and financial performance. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the position contributes to the preparation and delivery of the Shire’s Integrated Planning documentation and budgets and attends Council and other meetings as required.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate road construction, maintenance and works programs

Manage Works Department operations and staff

Oversee asset management planning, plant and equipment

Prepare and manage construction and maintenance budgets

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and safety requirements

Manage contracts, tenders and grant-funded works programs
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:
-
Applicable tertiary qualifications and/or over 5 years’ experience in civil engineering, construction and maintenance, with a strong understanding of gravel roads

Proven leadership and supervisory experience (minimum 3 years)

Experience in asset management planning

Strong knowledge of road construction, drainage, traffic management and contract management

Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and local government operations
-
Financial management and budget preparation experience
Local Government experience of at least 5 years is desirable.
Employment Conditions
This is a contracted position for a term of up to 5 years, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Salary: $115,000 – $125,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)

Additional benefits include private use of a motor vehicle (within 500km of Woodanilling), housing with utilities (or housing allowance), and other allowances in accordance with Council policy.
