Rate Information and Instalments

2008/2009

Council offers a 7.5% discount to rate payers who pay their rates in full including any arrears on or before 35 days from date of issue. Paying your rates in full by the specified date also gives you the opportunity to win great prizes.

Payment of Rates

Various payment options are provided to assist in payment of your rate account. The following outlines the options and due dates for 2009/2010:

Option 1 – Pay total amount, plus any additions (if applicable) to claim discount of 7.5% and go into the draw to win some great prizes. (Payment due within 35 days of issue).

Option 2 – 2 Installments, the first being ½ of the total plus any additions (if applicable)
1st Installment due: 35 days of issue
2nd Installment due: Friday 4th January 2010

Potion 3 – 4 Installments, the first been ¼ of the total plus any additions (if applicable)
1st Installment Due: 35 days of issue
2nd Installment Friday, 30 October 2009
3rd Installment Monday, 4 January 2010
4th Installment Friday, 26 February 2010

However, please note that only one follow-up notice will be issued before legal recovery action by Council commences. Should there be any reason why payment can not be made, please contact our Chief Executive Officer immediately. Any unpaid amounts not previously arranged will attract penalty interest of 11% per annum calculated daily from the due date.

Objections and Appeals

The Valuer General’s office provides periodic valuations of all properties within the district. If you wish to object to the valuation of the property, this must be done within 42 days of the original issue date of the rate notice from Council. Rates must be paid by the nominated due dates even if an objection has been lodged.

Reprints and statements

Reprints of rate notices and statement of rates can be produces by Council on a request by the property owner or agent.

Change of Address

Changes to the postal details of property owner must be provided in writing to Council, the assessment number should be quoted on all such correspondence, to advice your change of address.

Pensioner and senior rebates

Rate Notices for pensioners and Seniors are required to register to receive a rebate from the State Government will contain the rebate amount due and the net amount payable. To become a registered for a rebate, Pensioners and Seniors should bring their card to the Shire Office and complete the prescribed form.
